"While most rappers hide behind facades of wealth and power, Koba has been steadily growing his fanbase by simply sharing his innermost thoughts. His music takes listeners back to a time when hip hop was about creating poetry and art, and at the same time ushers them forward with modern beats and skillful rhymes. His raw and energetic live shows with the legendary DJ Boo are not to be missed." — City Scoops Magazine
Koba is a Filipino-American Hip-Hop vocalist and producer based in Washington Heights. His work is part hip-hop, part R&B, part hard, part vulnerable, and fully sincere, politically subversive, honest, crazy and real. Koba himself is part city kid, part outdoorsman, part honey badger, part panda, part party hardier, part meditator, and fully a go-getter, lover, writer and fighter. Alongside DJ Boo, Koba has rocked schools and venues across the country, sharing the stage with Talib Kweli, Slum Village, dead prez, Last Emperor, Immortal Technique, Eternia, Invincible, Blitz the Ambassador, the Narcycist and others at venues such as SOB's, the Knitting Factory, CBGB's, the Middle East and elsewhere. He has collaborated with and produced for other artists such as Taiyo Na and Outernational and was a cofounder of the Asian-American showcase series "Sulu Series" at the Bowery Poetry Club. Koba hustles hard to honor his diaspora, history, hood, loved ones and god.
